The moment I found out that Sailor Moon was coming back with a new dub and on DVD, I was very excited because hello? New merchandise!!
The thing I was mostly wondering, before the new voice actors were announced, was if Terri Hawkes would get a reprise or if they would give her a character as a monster or something to be fair I guess?
But anyway, the day I watched Sailor Moon Crystal, the first act, I just cried because of nostalgia. My role model was back in action and even more beautiful than before!
here is a good reaction that was pretty close to mine:
The one thing I wasn't sure about at first was the CGI/3D transformation. I was still emotional about it nonetheless. I have grown to love it. Each act for Crystal is so funny and breath taking. Hell, we don't even get monster of the day anymore. It's pretty accurate to the manga as well.
At the moment, we are all on act 9, which act 10 is tomorrow I believe. We already have all five senshi together and Princess Serenity has also been awakened. It's a hella lot faster than the 90's anime! Another thing is, it sucks, that we're only getting two seasons of Crystal unless I'm told otherwise. All 26 acts are seasons 1 & 2. 13 episodes. I really hope we get more because at the moment, Sailor Moon has grown more followers including my niece. My niece is seven years old and any time she is over she asks if she can watch Sailor Moon because she loves Sailor Venus.
Recently the new Sailor Moon dub was released on DVD, which I now own. I wasn't too sure about Stephanie Sheh as Usagi-chan, because she's not Terri. However, I'm already on disc three and I've grown to love the voice. I loved Kate Higgins from the start, so I thought she was perfect for Ami. Honestly, I think everyone is great for their parts. I hope we get a cutie for Chibiusa even though I dislike her.
Speaking of Chibiusa, we will be seeing her soon in Crystal! And we do get a dub for Crystal as well! Very exciting!!
The new dub is a lot more accurate than anything else. A few lines, I have noticed, were changed because they wanted it to fit correctly when the lips were yapping but the dub is perfect. We finally have a beautiful dub.
You can purchase the first part of season one of Sailor Moon at any retail store, but if you want blu-ray, you will have to search hard at retail stores or purchase it on a website.
The next set will be out February 10, 2014.
